How do I reset my progress?
Open Settings → tap "Reset All Progress". This clears XP, badges, tour progress, and returns you to the welcome screen. This action cannot be undone.

Go to Settings → "Restart Guided Tour" for a 3-step walkthrough of key features.

Can I turn off sounds and haptics?
Yes. In Settings, toggle "Sound Effects" and "Haptic Feedback" independently.

Settings → Text Size → choose Small, Medium, or Large for comfortable reading underground.

No. Cave Fish is designed to work fully offline. All content is stored within the app.

Your privacy, deep below the surface
Cave Fish respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to the Cave Fish mobile application on iOS and Android.

2. Information We Collect
Cave Fish is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, transmit, or store personal information such as your name, email address, location, or contacts.
The following data is stored locally on your device only using standard on-device storage (UserDefaults / SharedPreferences):
- Expedition progress (visited regions, viewed species, completed quizzes)
- Experience points (XP), explorer level, and achievement badges
- Onboarding and guided tour completion status
- App preferences: sound effects, haptic feedback, and text size
- Activity completion flags (science lab simulations, evolution stages)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it (e.g., via a screenshot).
3. How We Use Information
Locally stored data is used solely to:
- Save and restore your expedition progress
- Personalize your in-app experience (settings, accessibility)
- Unlock achievements and track educational milestones
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or analytics.
4. Third-Party Services
Cave Fish does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or social login providers. Educational content references publicly available scientific sources, which are displayed within the app for reference only.
When you download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, those platforms may collect data according to their own privacy policies. We do not receive that data.
5. Push Notifications
Cave Fish may request permission to send optional notifications. If enabled, notification tokens are handled by Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) according to their respective platform policies. We do not use notifications for marketing purposes.
6. Children's Privacy
Cave Fish is an educational app suitable for learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). Since no personal data is collected, no parental consent mechanism is required for data collection — but we encourage parental guidance for younger explorers.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
All app data remains on your device until you:
- Tap "Reset All Progress" in Settings (clears expedition data)
- Uninstall the app (removes all local data permanently)
Because we do not store data on our servers, we cannot recover progress after deletion or uninstallation.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location (including GDPR in the EU/EEA and CCPA in California), you may have rights regarding personal data. Since Cave Fish does not collect personal data, most data-subject requests are not applicable. For any privacy questions, contact us at the email above.
9. Security
We follow platform security best practices. All expedition data is stored locally using the operating system's secure storage mechanisms. No data is transmitted to external servers by the app itself.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
